whistler, the cultural wasteland...

a phrase a workmate used that i rather liked. fairly apt, there isnt much to do in whistler that doesnt involve the mountains. i've been to a few movies, most of which i've been underwhelmed by. went to v for vendetta last night, had the wachowski pseudo-philosophising-style all over it. not bad, but not that good either. underworld evolution was predictably silly but reasonably enjoyable and nice looking. watched flatliners on dvd recently, its a surprisingly good film, i'd kinda assumed it was 80s-cheesy but its actually rather styley.

read some good books by favourite authors - kafka on the shore by murakami, the other wind by ursula le guin, the forth hand by john irving, captain alatriste by perez-reverte. all very good. currently reading a silly pratchett book and enjoying it.

the wrist has improved quite a lot. cant lift heavy things but using the hand more. i have a teflon and fiberglass (green) cast. i can shower with it etc. not hugely itchy or annoying so far. the season ends on april 23 so will hopefully be working up until then. trying to do extra hours at present seeing as i cant ride. there is a big ski/snowboard festival in the last week that is meant to be awesome - competitions with lots of pro riders, free music concerts every night etc. so that should be a good way to end.
