rural new york
the last few days have been spent in upstate new york with friends of sarah's. been to a 50th wedding anniversary party (200 people plus a polka band at "the olde tater barn") and also a trumpet recital (by sarah's friend mark) for some old folks for the 4th of july! otherwise have been for a couple of walks in the countryside, played some badminton, played with the cute boxer dog and hung out at the house. we have decided to stay another night so we can go for a picnic and watch some independance day fireworks this evening, before heading for canada again tomorrow morning. will visit ottawa, montreal and quebec city before heading back down the east coast of the US...
we ended up going to a broadway show on our last night in new york. weren't planning to but just kinda happened as we were in the area and it was raining. got some good tickets (from man on the street) to "faith healer" - limited run play with ralph fiennes, ian mcdiarmid (senator palpatine/ the emperor from star wars!), and some actress i didn't know. it was a good show, well acted, but not really compelling character or story-wise.
